*A Remembrancer's Report: The Aeternum Sector - 005.M31*
This is Remembrancer Patrick Stella, reporting from the upper levels of Finitum. The deployment of ancient archaeotech illumination arrays has created a strange new landscape across the Stage. Areas of brilliant light now punctuate the supernatural darkness, creating islands of relative safety amid the Ruinstorm's unnatural gloom.
These beacons of light represent our greatest hope for maintaining control beyond Finitum's walls, but they have become focal points for some of the most intense fighting yet. The traitors are desperate to extinguish these points of illumination, knowing that the darkness grants them tactical advantages we cannot hope to match.
I have managed to compile reports from several key engagements around these illumination arrays. Though my vantage point limits direct observation, loyal officers have provided detailed accounts of the ongoing struggles.
[[S1 Session 7 Scores and Results|Technical Notes]]
1. **Northwestern Beacon:** A small force of Custodian Guard attempted to secure one of the illumination arrays but encountered mechanized traitor forces. While both sides fought to a standstill over the archaeotech itself, the traitors scored a significant victory when they managed to slay the Custodes commander. The golden warriors withdrew in good order, but the loss of their leader is a heavy blow to morale across the loyalist lines.

2. **Eastern Manufacturing Zone:** A force of Black Shields—Astartes who have removed their Legion insignia to fight for the Emperor without their former allegiances—engaged the Geno 3-7 Chiliad in a massive armored confrontation. The battlefield became a graveyard of tanks as six battle tanks, a Land Raider, and five transports were reduced to smoking wreckage. Lord Augustus of the Chiliad fell while attempting a desperate charge, and the loyalists decisively secured the illumination array.

3. **Northeastern Quadrant:** Iron Hands defenders faced Alpha Legion infiltrators in a bitter struggle. While neither side managed to secure the illumination array itself, the engagement ended in tragedy for the loyalists when both their Warlord and allied Magos were slain by traitor Locutarus and Effrit operatives. In a moment of dark irony, an Alpha Legion saboteur infiltrated directly into an explosion, resulting in immediate immolation.

4. **Central Array:** The Scions of Ultramar suffered a devastating defeat against Word Bearers attackers. Though the loyal Ultramarine Contemptor managed to crush the Word Bearers Praetor Abara Xis in a protracted duel, the dreadnought itself fell under the fury of the 17th Legion. Most alarming was the appearance of a Mhara Gal Dreadnought—a walking blasphemy of warp-tainted technology—which ruined Voltus, the Ultramarine Praetor who barely made it off the battle field alive. An Infernus Abomination was also sighted destroying a Sicaran Venator with its bare claws. The central illumination array now belongs to the traitors.

5. **Southern Manufacturing District:** Magos Deozz and the Taghmata Pariah continue to be a resilient force for the loyalist cause. Though they could not secure the illumination array, they inflicted significant casualties on the traitor White Scars. Deozz personally slew Superei Khan with devastating overwatch fire, while a Vulturax disintegrated the traitor librarian. The Magos remains operational despite sustaining damage in multiple engagements.

6. **Western Perimeter:** The most catastrophic engagement occurred when the Sollusan Sunborne encountered Alpha Legion forces near a large illumination array. A Reaver Titan fell amid devastating losses to the loyal Solar Auxilia. The traitors claimed absolute control of this sector, securing their most decisive victory of the operation.

The illumination network has been compromised at several critical junctures. While we maintain control of some arrays, the overall strategy appears to be faltering. Reports from the front lines also mention increasing sightings of... entities... materializing in the darkest regions between the light sources. Those who have encountered them seldom return with their sanity intact.
Within Finitum, whispers spread of strange phenomena occurring in the lower levels. Citizens report hearing voices in the dark, and some claim to have seen impossible geometries forming in shadows when no one is watching. I find myself keeping every lamp in my quarters lit, despite power rationing.
The darkness grows deeper. The light grows dimmer. And something is waiting in between.
Until next time, should there be one.
